"When the sun set in the Alps last winter, Europe's skiers danced the night away to the sound of LOUISE TUCKER's "Midnight Blue", which raced to No.1 in the French Charts in February."
So opened the publicity from Louise's press office at the height of the popularity of Midnight Blue. Indeed the world-wide hit sold two million copies in just nine months, developing steadily and topping the charts in Scandinavia, Belgium, Holland, Canada (Platinum on both single and album), Portugal, Spain, Australia and South Africa. Though it stubbornly refused to climb into the British Top 40, remaining just outside for weeks, the London newspapers recognised Louise's worldwide success. The Daily Express called her the "unknown" star and the Sunday Times devoted a large part of the Atticus column to her.
The success of Midnight Blue would be a hard act to follow, but five months in the studio paid dividends. After the Storm was the new album.
